TOP NOTCH CLASSES TO HELP YOU STAY FIT!

Body Sculpt 

Tone and define your entire body using the ball, tube, weights and bars. This challenging and fun class will have your looking your best in no time! 

Cardiolates

 

 

 

This class is for prenatal and postnatal mommies.  Class includes:  Pilates-based Low Impact Aerobics and Gentle Pilates stretching & toning exercises that focus on Strengthening and Stretching  muscles affected by pregnancy that will help to prepare  for labor and delivery.  Helps to prevent and alleviate common pregnancy –related symptoms  such as back pain, sciatica,round ligament pain, and, ankle swelling. Interact with other expectant moms, and new moms.

Hip Hop 

 

 

Learn to express yourself through music and dance, using the dynamic dance style of hip hop.  Increase your stamina and strength as you boogie down to the beats and break a sweat while busting a move. 

Intense PiYo 

 

This class combines the challenging moves found in both Pilates and yoga. This is a sculpting class that builds strength, not bulk. Learn strength-focused moves that will engage your body and mind, while improving flexibility and agility.  

Pilates for Runner's/Walkers

 

Mat class designed to enhance the biomechanics of runners/walkers, increase flexibility, build strength and help reduce common injuries associated with running/walking.  Class is held inside, on a mat, with bare-feet.  Please no acute injuries.  This class is not for those who are restricted from sit-ups or pushups.

Restorative Yoga 

 

 

 

Focuses on relaxing the body in postures that renew and heal the body; a supported, conscious body/mind relaxation practice.  This class will help improve strength, flexibility and alignment. When supported with props, the body relaxes and opens, releasing tension and stored-up toxins that can cause illness. Restorative poses offer benefits to both the body and mind, for conditions ranging from insomnia, asthma, chronic pain, migraines to depression. All levels Welcome! 

SpeedCamp

 

 

 

Challenge yourself with this speed-work class based on track athlete performance. Start in Gym 2 for warm-up,followed by 20-30 min of full-court drills. Then, we head to the aerobics room for the rest of our circuit work and a good stretch! Spin – One hour of pure cardiovascular training on indoor bikes with great music and a stretch to follow. 

Spoga 

 

 

 

Sweat through 30 min of cycling, followed by 30min of focused Yoga stability and flexibility training. Participants can take either segment separately, or both back to back. This is a great class for newcomers to either format, as well as for more experienced participants.  Cyclists benefit from the flexibility training of yoga, and yoga students can benefit from some higher intensity cardio. 

Step / Sculpt

 

Sweat and burn calories with fun intermediate Step choreography & tone and define your entire body using the ball, tube, weights and bars.

Track/Fit 

 

Enjoy the outdoors with drills and track-work. You’ll gain improvement for the PT test through cardio and muscle conditioning, including push-ups and sit-ups targeted work. Modifications will be given for any injuries. (Class will be indoor circuit for inclement weather) 

TurboKick

 

Aerobic exercise with a martial arts component. Kick and jab your way to sculpted legs and arms, while burningcalories, having a blast and relieving stress. 

 

Vinyasa Yoga 

 

A more fluid, vigorous yoga practice uniting breath with movement. Sometimes referred to as vinyasa flow because of the smooth way poses run together.

Weight Training 

 

Good, solid weight training that includes core work and stretch. Basic work that really works!Zone  

Zumba

 

Involves dance and aerobic elements. incorporating hip-hop, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and someBollywood and belly dance moves. Squats, lunges and other fitness elements are also included.

The Travis Fitness Center is located in Bldg. 434 on Travis Ave. This state-of-the-art Fitness Center offers an array of fitness options such as top of the line workout equipment, aerobics classes, martial arts, yoga, cycling, curcuit training, boxing, massage, personal trainers, and more.

A complete fitness program incorporates aerobic exercise, nutrition, weight management and strength training. The Travis Fitness Center has total fitness under one roof - the Health and Wellness Center, Fit Stop, two gymnasiums, and an array of new individual work out equipment.

The exercise classes taught by certified instructors include aerobics, kickboxing, yoga, a variety of martial arts, circuit training, cycling, boxing, and more. There is no membership fee and eligible patrons can use the Fitness Center at no charge, but there is a fee for many of the classes.

The Health and Wellness Center and the Fitness Center are two distinct organizations, but their missions are intertwined. They have worked together to create Introduction to Fitness Classes, the Fit F.O.R.C.E. program, special squadron exercise classes including cycling and circuit training. They also provide education and personal training to insure fitness without muscle strain and injury.

Exercise Your Freedom
After 9-11, the Fitness Center started encouraging military dependents to exercise to relieve stress and depression caused by family separation and anxiety about terrorist attacks. Many people are involved in fitness classes.

The Fitness Center’s goal is to help people feel good inside and out. Cholesterol checks, Gym in a Bag program, personal trainers, massage therapy, and other programs are offered through the joint efforts of the Health and Wellness Center and the Fitness Center.
